Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Who we are
Household Media LLC (“Household Media,” “we,” “us”) publishes Household Referral Magazine and The Opportunity Magazine. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and share information through our websites, HouseholdReferral.com, TheOpportunityMag.com and HouseholdMedia.net (the “Sites”), our printed magazines, and our advertising and marketing services, including call tracking, QR codes, website visitor identification, Intent Data Insights, lead generation and website and online ad services.
Household Media offers two data services to advertisers: website visitor identification and Intent Data Insights. This policy explains what information they use, how it is shared, and how you can opt out.
By using our Sites or contacting us, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and request forms: your name, email, phone number, mailing address, business name, and anything you write in a message.
- Magazine requests: your name and mailing address when you ask to receive a magazine.
- Advertiser information: business name, contact details, ad content and billing details. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Job applications: your name, contact details and anything you include in an application.
Information collected when you use our services
- Tracked phone calls: when you call a phone number printed in one of our magazines or on our Sites, our call tracking provider records the caller’s phone number, the date, time and length of the call, and general location (city or area code). Calls may also be recorded. You will hear a notice at the start of a recorded call.
- QR code scans: when you scan a QR code in one of our magazines, we record that a scan happened, along with the date, time, device type and approximate location (city level).
- Website activity: pages you visit, links you click, the site that referred you, your browser and device type and your IP address. We collect this using cookies, pixels and similar tools, described below.
- Website visitor identification: when you visit our Sites, or the website of an advertiser that uses our pixel, the pixel collects your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you view and similar data. Our data partners may match this to a name, mailing address or other details already in their records, so the website owner can see which households visited.
- Quote and contact requests: when you ask a business to contact you, we collect what you submit plus a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to, the date and time and the page you used.
Information from other sources
We receive information from third-party data partners. This includes household data, such as name, mailing address, homeownership and general demographic details, and online interest signals showing that a household has recently researched certain products or services. We use it to build Intent Data Insights audiences for advertisers. We also use public records, such as county property records, and information from analytics and advertising partners.
How we use information
- To respond to your questions and requests, and to mail you a magazine you asked for.
- To sell, deliver and bill for advertising.
- To give advertisers reports on how their ads perform, such as call counts, call recordings and QR scan totals.
- To identify website visitors for site owners who use our pixel.
- To build Intent Data Insights audiences that advertisers use for postcards and online ads.
- To pass your quote or contact request to the business you asked to hear from.
- To run, secure and improve our Sites and magazines.
- To send you emails you signed up for. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To review job applications.
- To comply with the law and protect our rights.
How we share information
We share personal information only as described here. Advertisers never receive phone numbers or email addresses from audience data or visitor identification.
- With advertisers, when you contact them. If you call an advertiser’s tracked number, scan their QR code, or submit a form asking an advertiser to contact you, we share the details of that contact with that advertiser so they can respond and measure their results.
- With advertisers, as mail and ad audiences. If you are in an Intent Data Insights audience, or are identified as a visitor to an advertiser’s website, we may share your name and mailing address with that advertiser so they can send you mail. For online ads, we may upload scrambled (hashed) contact details to advertising platforms such as Meta or Google so they can show ads to matching households; the advertiser does not receive those details.
- With service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, call tracking, email, printing and mailing and payment processing. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users, advertisers or Household Media.
- If our business changes hands, as part of a merger, sale or transfer of assets.
Cookies, pixels and tracking
Our Sites use cookies, pixels and similar tools to:
- Keep the Sites working and secure
- Measure traffic and how visitors use the Sites (analytics)
- Measure which magazine ads and QR codes lead to visits
- Show relevant ads on other websites and social media (retargeting)
Our Sites use a website visitor identification pixel provided by a data partner, which collects the information described under “Website visitor identification and audience data” below. Analytics and advertising platforms we work with may also collect information about your activity across different websites.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics to measure traffic; see Vercel’s privacy policy for how it handles data.
To opt out of visitor identification and audiences, visit householdmedia.net/opt-out. You can also limit interest-based ads from many companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) and the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if you do.
Website visitor identification and audience data
Our website pixel and our data partners may identify the household behind a website visit, and may flag households showing online interest in a service. We use this only to help businesses send mail and show online ads. We do not use it to decide anyone’s eligibility for credit, insurance, housing or employment, and we do not build audiences from health conditions, race, religion or other sensitive traits.
You can opt out at any time; see Your choices below.
Quote requests and consent to be contacted
When you submit a quote or contact form, you choose whether to let a business contact you by phone call or text, including by automated technology. That consent is never required to buy anything, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP to a text or emailing info@householdmedia.net. We keep a record of the consent you gave.
Recorded calls
Calls to tracked phone numbers in our magazines and on our Sites may be recorded so advertisers can review and verify calls. A recording notice plays at the start of each recorded call. If you do not want to be recorded, you may end the call and contact the business another way.
Your choices
- Email: click “unsubscribe” in any marketing email, or email us at info@householdmedia.net.
- Mail: to stop receiving a magazine at your address, email us at info@householdmedia.net with your mailing address.
- Phone: we do not make marketing calls or send marketing texts to consumers without the consent the law requires. To ask that we not contact you by phone, email info@householdmedia.net.
- Texts: reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving them.
- Audiences and visitor identification: to opt out of Intent Data Insights audiences and visitor matching, use https://www.householdmedia.net/opt-out or email info@householdmedia.net with your name and mailing address. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Your information: you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@householdmedia.net. We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to any records we must keep by law.
Children
Our Sites and magazines are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, for example while you are an advertiser or for as long as needed to meet legal and accounting requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If we make important changes, we will give additional notice, such as on our home page.
